At an early age of ten or so, I was drawn into what would become, Amateur radio. My first venture was to build a short wave radio, a kit known as “Ocean Hopper”, details are long gone. Years moved on to 1955 or so, I became KN0CIA, a novice nothing of note, then, technician..general..advanced…then 1975 moved and went QRT until 2010. New QTH in rural Missouri and back on the air, Yes, the sweet sound of crushing QRN and 20 meter CW dx in the phones. So I am back in the chase, even as we enter a solar minimum.

I have put together some nice gear, some older, some new, but all works pretty good, such as the pic to the right is a nice 80 meter vertical 68 footer made by DXengineering. More gear and such down the page..

Thanks for looking………73, Tom

Back on the air…..2013

Started back on 20 cw with a well used ts-520 into a dipole on the roof.  Great hybrid from the seventies, which, back then I could’nt afford. Shortly after I found a fairly nice ts-830, which I brought up to speed with sharper filters, new finals, ect.. Had to do some extensive work on the bandswitch. This is still a great rig, Photo on the left, with external vfo.  I used this setup until start of 2018, and still have it on the table. End of 2017 i acquired a K3, which I upgraded and added filters. Also the Heath sb-220 (pictured) was replaced with an 8410.
